Baby dry scalp is one of the most common conditions. There are many causes of dry scalp in babies such as cradle cap (dry, flaky or patchy scaling on the scalp), baby eczema, harsh soaps and fungal infections. Baby dry scalp can be seen in almost 50 percent of the newborns and it is not a serious health related issue, is not a cause, unless, it spreads to other body parts, or becomes severe. According to the Mayo Clinic, one can use a mild baby shampoo to remove crusting and flakes. You can also get rid of scales with a petroleum jelly or mineral oil massage. To relieve dry scalp related itching and discomfort, use 0.5% hydrocortisone based cream, but it is always better to consult a pediatrician before using any type of over the counter products. Also, babies with eczema may need a prescription cream to help soothe the symptoms.
Baby Dry Scalp Remedy
Here are some tips for you to threat cradle cap naturally at home:
- Apply lavender oil on the scalp and let the oil stay overnight. In the morning, wash it with a gentle shampoo.
- An effective remedy (for nursing mothers):-Add biotin rich food sources in to your diet menu
- Make a mixture by combining virgin olive oil and tea tree oil. Apply it on the affected areas by using a cotton ball. After some time or before shampooing, use a soft brush to loosen the scales.

This is terrible advice!! Never put pure lavendar oil, or any essential oil on a baby, they must be diluted with another oil...alot!!
